Summer is finally here and with London consistently ranking as one of the most popular destinations for U.S. travelers, finding exactly what to do in a short amount of time in this great city can be difficult. One place you shouldn’t skip out on is London’s Chinatown. Teeming with cuisine from East and Southeast Asia, you can enjoy flavors from Saigon to Sichuan, all in one place.
London’s Chinatown spans 11 streets and promises some mouthwatering options. Here’s your go-to guide for Chinatown.

Venture to Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s food features traditional Cantonese dishes and international fusion. For some tasty roast, head to Café TPT and New China. Order some of the iconic bubble waffles served up in a waffle-y cone at Bubblewrap, or pick up a freshly made pineapple bun at The Eight. Egg tarts are made daily at Chinatown Bakery, and congee is best enjoyed at Lotus Garden.
Malaysian Musings
Malay cuisine is strong, aromatic and spicy, incorporating many herbs and spices found in Southeast Asia. Try satay, rendang and char kuay teow at Rasa Sayang and C&R Café. Rasa Sayang also offers the iconic dish of nasi lemak.

Trip to Thailand
Often featuring seafood, meats and vibrant festivals with rice or noodles, Thai food is heightened with turmeric, Thai basil and lemongrass. Indulge in some good pad Thai at YiQi, or lap up some savory Tom Yum at Speedboat Bar. This restaurant also serves pad kra pao.
Step into Singapore
Singapore’s multicultural routes make it stand out on the global scale, combining Chinese, Malay and Indian influences. National dishes like Hainanese chicken, chili crab and roti canai can be enjoyed at Rasa Sayang and C&R Café.

Journey to Japan
Offering an array of gastronomical delights, Japan has mastered many dishes. Sushi and sashimi await at High Yaki, while the beautiful and sweet mille crepe cakes can be found at Sakurado or KOVA. A matcha haven awaits at Tsujiru, while pork or chicken katsu is served at Misato. Indulge in some gyoza at Haozhan and fill your belly with ramen at High Yaki.
Filipino Cuisine
Like other Southeast Asian cuisines but with a heavy Spanish influence, find Filipino restaurants in Chinatown like Mamasons, located in Chinatown’s own Dessert Alley. This place serves bilog, a Filipino take on traditional ice cream made with ube ice cream with a warm, toasted milk bun. Candy Café serves a popular cold dessert called Halo Halo.
Chow Down in China
For centuries, food has signified cultural triumph and struggle in China. Get your fix of dim sun at Plum Valley, Dumplings’ Legend, Leong’s Legend or Tao Tao Ju. Slurp some Lanzhou beef noodles at Kung Fu Noodle and join the line for some decadent bao buns at Bun House or China Modern. Fans of duck will love Peking roast duck at Four Seasons and Golden Phoenix, while you can grab a Chinese crepe at Chinese Tapas House.
“K-ruise” Through South Korea
From humble market stalls in Seoul to cosmopolitan cities across the world, South Korea food is loved by many. Stock up on kimchi at Oseyo and SeeWoo, and taste bulgogi at Pochawa Grill! Bibimbap awaits at Olle, while visitors can appreciate some good Korean fried chicken at Wing Wing.
Taste of Taiwan
Innovative and full of flavor, you’ll want to head to Shu Xiang Ge for some hot pot with loved ones. Sip on bubble tea at any number of spots like Cuppacha, Happy Lemon and Chatime. Or have a meal of Danzai noodles at Old Tree Daiwan Bee.

Visit Vietnam
Known for its distinct use of fresh and fragrant flavors with a balance of sweet and sour, spicy and cooling, Vietnamese hot spots include Viet Food, which serves rare beef pho and Vietnamese spring rolls. Or, opt for a Bánh bao featuring BBQ pork belly or confit pork belly at Pho & Bun.

May 14, 2025Hotel Van Zandt Review
One step onto Austin’s Rainey Street and you’ll feel like you’ve joined the cool kids at the best playground in the city. Just behind the cottage bars, pint-sized skyscrapers soar. One of them, Hotel Van Zandt, the Rainey district's pièce de resistance, beckons with a song-like spirit —apropos because the independently owned property, rife with music motifs, was named after beloved singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Sixteen stories high, the hotel embodies Austin’s lust for music, manifesting with a vinyl corner; trumpet chandeliers; myriad musical references; replica vintage posters in frames; and its own live music venue, which doubles as its acclaimed restaurant, Geraldine’s. Don’t miss the mesmerizing installation of colorful origami-like birds composed from vinyl records that flitter from an old phonograph.
