Opening Feb. 15 at The Tate Modern in London, Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind offers a retrospective of the work of iconic — and controversial figure — Yoko Ono. The exhibition embraces more than six decades, including the artist’s London years (1966–1971), during which she met Beatles musician John Lennon and embarked on one of the world’s most public celebrity relationships.

Including works on paper, objects, music and early performances captured on film, the exhibition offers the opportunity to explore and experience the artist’s activist projects, including PEACE IS POWER and Wish Tree. Visitors are invited to add their own wishes for peace to the Wish Tree as part of their visit to the exhibit.

Recognized for her often startling performance art, such as 1964’s “Cut Piece,” during which Ono invited people to cut off her clothes, she is also a well-known activist. Her “Film No. 4 (Bottoms),” created from 1966 to 1967, was meant to be a “petition for peace,” and was subsequently banned.
