Love a getaway that includes plenty of opportunities to unwind in nature? Glam camping in the Czech Republic means exactly that — along with eco-friendly luxury lodging powered by renewable energy, as well as a range of activities and dining choices that register low on the carbon footprint scale. Lodging providers work with local farmers and food producers to provide guests with delicious meal choices, such as organic breakfast baskets that avoid long transportation distances and are filled with local specialties including handcrafted jams and jellies, fresh-baked pastries and breads, rich dairy items, and honey.

Consider these nature-rich destinations:

Right out of the pages of your favorite fairytale, Treehouse & Spa Zvičina in East Bohemia has its own forest garden and stone terrace. Just below the treehouse, a private, steamy Finnish bath set within a ravine invites you to soak to your heart’s content. Cool off beneath a shower, then retreat to an upper deck to gaze out at the surrounding forest. Before you arrive, the subterranean refrigerator will be stocked with basics, along with hearty breakfast packs. Seasonal fresh fruit is also available for picking in the garden.

Let your cares float away at House Above the Water in the Highlands, a two-bedroom retreat built above the water of a swimming pond. Amenities include fitness equipment, a Finnish sauna, a hot barrel filled with salt water and fitted with jets, a terrace with a barbecue, bathroom stocked with organic bodycare products, a wood-burning stove, and a garden with fruit trees. A personal chef is available to prepare a five-course meal, and guests can also opt for yoga lessons and massage treatments.

In the forests of the Czech Republic’s Highlands region, Hidden Retreat is set on the shore of the Hranice quarry. Tranquil and secluded, this hideaway is surrounded by trees and birdsong, and equipped with a wide terrace. There’s a barbecue, sauna and paddleboards for guests’ enjoyment.

Also set beneath the trees of a forest, Teepee & Spa in Central Bohemia is barely 30 miles from Prague, but the private terrace, hot tub and sauna make it seem a world away. Heat up, then cool off beneath an invigorating outdoor shower before cooking your evening meal over the grill. All ingredients for a delicious local dinner are provided.

The Somerset on Grace Bay Review

If you’re taking a large family getaway or a “friendcation,” regular hotel rooms might not cut it. Even if you book adjoining rooms or a more spacious suite, accommodations most likely still won’t have all of the amenities to make your stay as comfortable as it could be. But if your brood happens to be planning a beach getaway to Turks & Caicos, The Somerset on Grace Bay can provide an inviting oceanside home away from home.

Escape to Tahiti for a Captivating Island-Hopping Cruise

The 118 islands of French Polynesia reveal themselves layer by fascinating layer, with the spirit of mana (vital force) linking them all the way from Tahiti to the remote reaches of the Marquesas. This is part of the world best savored on a journey that dives as deep into culture as natural beauty, both above and below the water’s surface. A cruise makes it easy to cover a lot of ground while unpacking just once (and sneaking in some work done in comfort, too, during at-sea days). And cruising offers particular appeal within this semi-autonomous French territory sprawling across nearly 2 million square miles of ocean and covering five archipelagos.
