Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts announced a new West Coast hotel, the Waldorf Astoria San Francisco. The property is the center for a new mixed-use development, located in the Transbay neighborhood and containing entertainment and retail venues, as well as offices. The hotel takes up the first 21 stories of the development’s tower. “With the revitalization taking place around the Transbay Transit Center, this neighborhood is poised to become a major hub for locals and global luxury travelers, which underscores Waldorf Astoria’s commitment of being in the center of coveted gateway destinations. Waldorf Astoria San Francisco marks our third property in California,” said John T.A. Vanderslice, global head, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts. The Transbay neighborhood offers extensive walkability, as well as bike paths. New restaurants and shops continue to pop up around well-planned green spaces. Foster + Partners is designing the new development tower, while Hirsch Bedner Associates oversees the property’s interior. Plans for the property include a large spa and a fine dining venue, Peacock Alley. Guests can expect True Waldorf Service identical to that found at all of the brand properties.
