Next time you set your compass for the Big Easy, be sure to spare time for Vue Orleans, the latest cultural experience in New Orleans. Located at the base of Canal Street in the newly refurbished Four Seasons building, the new part-observatory, part-exhibit includes touchless, interactive exhibitions. Exhibits showcase some of the city’s most influential and memorable figures, including Irma Thomas (known as the Soul Queen of New Orleans), and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

“For years we’ve been gathering stories from local historians, artists, musicians [and others], all with the goal to curate a state-of-the-art cultural experience and share the real story of New Orleans — what it was, what it is and what it all means,” said Paul Flower, developer, Vue Orleans. “Vue Orleans is a fresh look at one of the world’s most historic and beloved cities and we are proud to finally unveil this unique experience.”

Visitors can earn a pilot pin after virtually guiding a river boat through the swirling, spinning currents of the Mississippi River, ride an elevator through three centuries of the city’s history and try their hand at mixing and matching period costumes with a digital outfitter and receive a souvenir photo. Visitors can also “travel” through a soundtrack of the city’s musical history. Breaks can include a stop at the Story Café for authentic New Orleans cuisine by PBS Chef Kevin Belton and cookbook author/host of Louisiana Eats!, Poppy Tooker. Tickets may be purchased online.
