Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale recently opened Bar at Evelyn’s, a space integrating eastern Mediterranean influences into unique and elegant cocktails and mocktails. With neutral tones blended with subtle accents of gold and wood found throughout the bar, the space transports guests to far-off coastal towns in Turkey and Lebanon.
In addition to eastern Mediterranean-inspired cocktails and mocktails, Bar at Evelyn’s also features wines from around the world, local craft beer and rare, vintage and artisan Champagnes. The bar boasts terroir-driven wines spanning the world, from destinations like New Zealand; Bekaa Valley, Lebanon; Argentina; Sicily, Italy; and Rias Biaxas, Spain. With head mixologist Matthew Dress creating elevated concoctions, his incorporation of eastern Mediterranean flavors, aromas, textures and ingredients comes together in the final result of a delicious drink.
Dress highlights locations like Lebanon, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, and parts of Turkey, in the different cocktails and mocktails, mixing his own house-made ingredients and fashioning shrubs, infusions, bitters and garnishes not found anywhere else. Some of the cocktail ingredients include pine nuts, date molasses, pomegranate, sumac, rose water and za’atar.
Some of the signature drinks include the Rangpur Daiquiri, a modern version of one of Ms. Bartlett’s own signature cocktail recipes. Originally made in a pitcher for sharing and entertaining, Dress puts his own twist on the iconic drink. The Orchid Room is another special drink, perfect for anyone wanting something light and refreshing. Inspired by the well-known, non-alcoholic Middle Eastern drink call jallab, The Orchid Room earns its name after The Orchid Room at Fort Lauderdale luminary Evelyn Fortune Lilly Bartlett’s Bonnet House.

Dec 18, 2024Stroll the Captivating Barrios of the Chilean Capital
Santiago is divided into comunas (districts) and then into barrios (neighborhoods). Founded in 1541 by Spain, Santiago suffered repeatedly from earthquakes, floods and civil disorder. It is no wonder its barrios are unique and distinct — some with steep terrain crawling up into the foothills of the Andes, some sitting close to the urban center and boasting busy cafés, music clubs, restaurants, food markets, and new residential and commercial high-rises.
