United Airlines just announced the first-ever non-stop flight between the United States and Adelaide, Australia. The new service launches Dec. 11 between San Francisco (SFO) and Adelaide (ADL). The route provides a seamless connection between the United States and South Australia, with tickets now on sale.
The 15-hour flight departs San Francisco three times per week, operating until March 2026, with a possibility to increase as demand grows. Flights leave San Francisco International Airport on Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:05 p.m., arriving in Adelaide at 9:30 a.m. Return flights from Adelaide depart Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 2:55 p.m. and land in San Francisco at 11:15 a.m. the same day.
The flight will be operated via a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, complete with 48 United Polaris business-class seats and 21 United Premium Plus seats.
Currently, the United States is the fourth-largest inbound tourism visitation market for South Australia. In 2024, the region welcomed 44,000 U.S. visitors, up 28 percent from 2023.
