Turkish Airlines strives to practice environmentally conscious operations.
In February 2022, the airline began using environmentally-friendly fuel with the intention to increase the frequency and destinations using this fuel. The airline focuses on fuel-saving efforts, including single-engine taxi methods and route optimizations. Due to these and other initiatives, the airline saved 37,820 tons of fuel and prevented 116,809 tons of carbon emissions from being released during 2021.
Turkish Ground Services owns 309 electric vehicles in nine airports. The vehicles collectively travel more than 23,000 miles daily. The airlines’ aircraft maintenance hangar collects rainwater and turns it into usable water. After being treated through the rainwater collection system, the water is used on site instead of pulling from the city’s water supply.
