Turkish Airlines started using sustainable aviation fuel on its flights; the fuel was first used on TK1823 between Istanbul (IST) and Paris (CDG) in early February. At this time, the sustainable fuel will be used one day a week on the chosen route, but there are plans in place to use it on a wider scale. The sustainable aviation fuel Turkish Airlines is using has 87 percent less greenhouse gas compared to fossil fuels.

Turkish Airlines subsidiary Turkish Fuel Services facilitates the fueling process; it’s sourced from Neste company, then stored at the TFS fuel farm before getting loaded to aircraft after it is blended with jet fuel.

We believe that future generations will continue to be able to discover the world and its preserved beauty with Turkish Airlines. Our efforts focused on protecting our world will continue.”
