For New Year’s Eve, my friends and I went to Camelback Mountain, in the Poconos, Pennsylvania, for some much-needed time away and to hit the slopes. Although I am not a skier, I wanted to spend time with my friends and get away for a bit. Others in the group weren’t skiers either, so, one day, we decided to adventure out to a restaurant at the lodge.
The lodge was within walking distance, so we decided to lunch at Trails End Pub & Grill. When we got there, it was a little crowded so we made a reservation and had a drink while we waited. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic, there wasn’t seating at the bar or indoor seating available, so we had to wait outside.
While we waited, we enjoyed drinks and snacks. My friend and I ordered nachos big enough for about 15 people. Everyone else in the group indulged as well. Our friends out shredding came and met us for a drink and snack while we waited. We ended up waiting about an hour for our table, but we didn’t mind because we were enjoying each other’s company.
When our table was ready, we were led to a tented area with tall patio heaters and nice outdoor tables and chairs. One side of the tent was open for ventilation and followed COVID-19 dining protocols in Pennsylvania. The tables were spread apart, so I felt comfortable enjoying my time and meal.
The menu had a lot of different options, everything from finger foods to full entrees. I opted for chicken fingers and fries — although it was such a basic dish, they were still delicious. My friends got steak frites and the grilled chicken BLT, and enjoyed both.
Although it was crowded, the service was quick and our waitress was polite. We were able to enjoy our time without feeling rushed.
Overall, the whole experience was enjoyable and laid-back. The food was delicious and there was a good selection of drafts, cocktails and bottled drinks. I would definitely recommend stopping by Trails End Pub & Grill the next time you are by Camelback Mountain.
