Thanksgiving is around the corner and travelers are ready to hit the road for the holiday this year. Travel insurance company Allianz Partners recently announced the results of its Thanksgiving Destination Index for 2021.
This year, New York City and Cancún are the most popular domestic and international destinations, respectively. New York City reclaims the top domestic spot after slipping to No. 2 in 2020. Detroit and Chicago return to the top 10 after missing the list in 2020.
Destinations in Mexico hold the top three spots for most popular international destinations, with Cancún at the top spot for the second year in a row. Americans are ready for sun and sand, with beach destinations taking up eight spots within the top 10 on the international destinations list.
