The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas hotel reopened its doors earlier this year after undergoing a substantial $55 million renovation following its acquisition. The property, in the scenic Las Colinas hills, has a 38-year legacy in the Dallas area and now offers a fresh take on modern luxury, a welcoming retreat for guests to enjoy.

The resort’s original interiors were influenced by the history of the property. In 1928, the Carpenter family purchased 1,500 acres and called it “El Ranchito de las Colinas,” which translates as “The Little Ranch of the Hills.” The ranch was the family’s favorite place to relax  and enjoy the beautiful landscape. Ideally positioned on 400 acres of the original ranchland, The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas is situated just minutes from downtown Dallas.

Guided by the noted design firms Jeffrey Beers International and Leo A Daly, the initial phase of renovations brought several enhancements to the property. These include the introduction of Bar Juniper, a new lobby bar spotlighting clear spirits. The design of the space is meticulously curated, incorporating touches inspired by the indigenous Texas vegetation. One of the standout details includes JBI’s custom-designed chandelier in Juniper Bar, inspired by a cotton plant’s flowers, made of 340 clear-ribbed glass diffusers and weighing 800 pounds.

Additionally, the 427 guestrooms, including 26 suites, have been refreshed with a style capturing the free-spirited lifestyle of the resort’s historical roots as the former Little Ranch on the Hills. Furthermore, the property added new meeting spaces and state-of-the-art ballroom facilities, covering 80,000 square feet.

“Our commitment is to deliver The Ritz-Carlton’s exceptional service in a destination that truly distinguishes itself,” said Tod Morrow, general manager, The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas. “We are eager to introduce our guests, whether local or visitors, to innovative offerings and distinctive experiences that forge lasting memories.”

Surrounded by a natural setting, the property offers two 18-hole golf courses and holds the certification of an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, capturing the innate beauty of Texas. A four-minute walk to the resort is The Nelson Golf & Sports Club, providing guests with access to lots of recreational facilities. These activities include outdoor tennis courts, racquetball, a world-class fitness center with Technogym equipment, and a group exercise studio featuring classes from aerial yoga to cycling.

“The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas is a highly anticipated addition to the brand,” said Jamie Kerr, vice president and global brand leader, The Ritz-Carlton. “The property presents a wonderful opportunity to savor Texas’ natural landscape while indulging in luxurious accommodations, all while maintaining access to the city, a unique offering that we are delighted to provide our guests.”

This year marks the opening of Knife Italian, the latest restaurant concept by Michelin-starred Chef John Tesar. The restaurant weaves together the Italian heritage deeply rooted in Texas. Campo Coffee & Provisions is another new venue offering a European-inspired, locally roasted espresso program, as well as a sommelier-curated selection of wines. As part of the new design features, the 14,000-square-foot on-site salon and spa has been upgraded into the world-class The Ritz-Carlton Spa, and the resort pool now features luxury cabanas, expanded seating and a new poolside bar.

Escape to Tahiti for a Captivating Island-Hopping Cruise

The 118 islands of French Polynesia reveal themselves layer by fascinating layer, with the spirit of mana (vital force) linking them all the way from Tahiti to the remote reaches of the Marquesas. This is part of the world best savored on a journey that dives as deep into culture as natural beauty, both above and below the water’s surface. A cruise makes it easy to cover a lot of ground while unpacking just once (and sneaking in some work done in comfort, too, during at-sea days). And cruising offers particular appeal within this semi-autonomous French territory sprawling across nearly 2 million square miles of ocean and covering five archipelagos.

The Shelbourne Review

Facing the vast St. Stephen’s Green in the heart of Dublin sits the iconic and historic The Shelbourne. Few hotels master the perfect blend of history and luxury, but The Shelbourne gets it right. The site of the signing of the Irish Constitution in 1922 granting the Republic of Ireland its freedom from England, The Shelbourne has hosted its fair share of notable figures, from Michael Collins to Princess Grace Kelly to John Ford, the latter of which was the name of my suite.
