The Philippines makes the entry process for visa-required tourists easier than ever with a new and more efficient visa program. In collaboration with the Department of Tourism and the Department of Justice, the Cruise Visa Waiver program was initially approved this March.
Now in effect, the project hopes to attract more cruise tourists through the simplified process. Last year alone, the Philippines welcomed 123 port calls with more than 101,000 passengers. This year the country expects about 118,000 passengers as the industry continues to recover from the pandemic.
“The Cruise Visa Waiver is a significant step in revitalizing our tourism industry after the pandemic,” said Norman Tansingco, commissioner, Bureau of Immigration. “It ensures that cruise tourists can easily visit and enjoy our beautiful country.”
The waiver is nonconvertible and nonextendable, requiring the tourist to arrive and depart on the same cruise ship.
