Marriott’s Moxy Times Square Hotel is part of a new wave of budget hotels offering a balance of function, style and appealing public spaces. In fact, Lightstone Group president Mitchell Hochberg, in putting his personal stamp on Moxy’s New York City properties, bets cultivating local patronage will be the key to their success with visitors.
“We know our visitors prefer to mix with locals and learn about what’s actually hot in New York from a New Yorker,” says Hochberg. “This is why we focused on making Moxy Times Square an appealing regular spot for people who live and work in the community.”
Hochberg teamed up with The TAO Group for the food equation to beget on-property restaurants including Legasea, the carnival-themed Magic Hour, Bar Moxy and to-go breakfasts at EggHead, offering an eclectic selection of all-American comfort foods updated with subtle international touches and components from local farmers and purveyors.
The public lobby area morphs from a co-working environment to a club at night, thanks to the influence of TAO’s famous mixology and modular furniture. The property also includes New York loft-chic “studios” that can be rented for daytime conferences and nighttime cocktail parties.
