TAP Air Portugal partnered with Capital One. The partnership launched April 20, and allows Venture, VentureOne, Spark Miles and Spark Miles Select cardholders to transfer Capital One miles to the TAP Miles&Go program. The miles can be redeemed not only on TAP flights, but also on other Star Alliance member carriers. Ascenda, the world’s largest bank travel loyalty exchange network, aided the partnership.

The partnership is an important step toward consolidating TAP’s presence in the North American market. By August, TAP will operate 51 flights a week to U.S. and Canadian cities, including Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), Chicago (ORD), Washington, D.C. (IAD), San Francisco (SFO), Toronto (YYZ) and Montreal (YUL).

In light of the restrictions on civil aviation, TAP implemented several measures to protect Miles&Go members, including more flexibility and benefits. Some measures include extending the validity of miles, extension of the client’s status for another 12 months and flexibility in canceling and changing flights.
