Dinner Cruise on the Na’ Pali Coast
As my husband and I made plans for our week's vacation on the island of Kauai in November, we knew we wanted to experience the magnificent and rugged Na' Pali Coast. Accessible only via boat, air or foot, we felt our best option was a cruise. Most flight options are fairly brief, and since last spring's hurricane and torrential rains, many trails in the area are closed. We booked a sunset dinner cruise with Captain Andy's tours out of Hanapepe Bay on the southern coast and kept our fingers crossed for good weather and light seas.

Hawaiian Sunset at The Beach House
On the recommendation of my daughter and son-in-law, who had been to Kauai last spring, my husband and I made reservations for dinner at The Beach House restaurant on the south shore of the island as we were planning our trip there last month. Located in the town of Koloa, it is well-known both for its fine dining and as a perfect vantage point for observing colorful sunsets. Before booking, I looked up the time of sunset on the evening we planned to be there --- wouldn't want to get there too late!
Chocolate and More on Kaua’i
While researching tours and recreation options for a trip to Kaua'i, I came across Lydgate Farms, operated by a fifth-generation Kaua'i family and producing craft chocolates, vanilla beans and honey. (Hawai'i is the only U.S. state where cacao grows.) It took me all of 30 seconds to decide to sign up for a three-hour tasting tour, especially when I realized the farm was only a 15-minute drive from our accommodations in Kapa'a, on the island's east side.

Art Night in Hanapepe
My husband and I are in the midst of a week-long stay on the island of Kaua'i in Hawai'i. The Garden Isle may be smaller and less populated than Maui or Oahu, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot to see and do.
