The Promise of Spring
Even as much of the country dealt with waves of subfreezing temperatures and heavy snow and ice storms over the past few weeks, I've been keeping an eye out for early signs of spring. Friends and relatives in northwest Oregon endured snow, layers of ice and subsequent power outages, but here in the southwest corner of the state (at the lower elevations) we stayed above freezing and avoided all the downed lines and broken limbs.

United Airlines First to Purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel for ORD
Chicago O’Hare International Airport will soon receive sustainable aviation fuel, all thanks to United Airlines, which became the first airline to purchase SAF for use at the airport, one of the largest in the United States. Neste, a producer of SAF, will provide up to 1 million gallons of its Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The first supply arrived in August.

Usually I am a disaster in the garden. For years, I have tried to grow wild flowers (or any flowers) along the east side of my house. I have tried planting seeds, bulbs and store-bought flowers, but none ever take. I even tried replanting some flowers from my sister’s beautiful yard. Still no luck.
