My Pandemic Year in Travel
This week was my 27th birthday. How did I get here? It seemed to creep up so quickly. I remember this time last year the pandemic was in full swing with restaurants, bars and attractions closed. Friends and family couldn’t travel to see one another, and people were unsure how life was going to unfold in the next year, let alone the next day.

Basketball Trips
It's amazing how a pandemic affects us all as far as travel. In my case, the lost revenue due to a lack of travel from just my situation really adds up. My son and I traveled to Boston, Massachusetts, at the beginning of April 2019 to play in a basketball tournament. Since we were all traveling from Chicago, we all needed transportation to the airport and, while there, most of us had something to eat. We stayed at a hotel outside of Boston and also rented a car for three days. While in town, we ate at local establishments multiple times. There was also an entrance fee associated with the tournament. Since there were about 25 kids and adults altogether, there were nine hotel rooms and five vehicles rented in total.

Travel and Friendship
I recently visited two of my best friends, Francesca and Nick, who live outside of Boston. Fran and I had been close since we attended college in New York City and retained that level of close friendship. Though married now to, let me tell you, the human version of a Disney prince, we still manage to find time to meet up and catch up.
