Swiss International Air Lines recently ranked No. 1 in the World’s Best Airline Lounge for Dining category for its first-class lounge in Terminal E at Zürich Airport in the 2024 World Culinary Awards.

“We are very proud to earn such a prestigious award,” said Julia Hillenbrand, head of SWISS Brand Experience, SWISS. “It’s the result and the reflection of our continual commitment to offering our customers an exceptional culinary experience that we combine with top-notch service and optimum comfort and convenience. It will inspire us to continue to set the highest possible standards to deliver on our premium promise.”

The lounges serve freshly prepared à la carte dining, with an emphasis on regional and seasonal cuisine. Swiss classics like Zürcher Geschnetzeltes sit alongside dishes like Thai curry and burgers on the menu, which is changed every three months.

Hubertus Henning, general manager Airport Lounges Switzerland, gategroup, said, “We are immensely proud of our strong collaboration and the success we have achieved with SWISS. This prestigious accolade is a testament to our exceptional partnership and our team’s unwavering dedication to delivering outstanding service and unforgettable dining experiences. We look forward to continuing to inspire culinary excellence and achieving even greater milestones together.”

Sustainability is a hallmark of SWISS’s culinary offering, with meats selected in accordance with rigorous animal welfare standards and the fish and seafood from certificated sources.

Other amenities in the SWISS First Class Lounge in Zürich Airport include two hotel rooms, a conference room, mini-suites and a Champagne bar.

Airlines Tout New Products and Services to Pamper Premium-Class Passengers

Is it worth it? The airplane is the same, we’re flying the same route, we will all get there at the same time. And yet some passengers paid considerably more for their seats than others. On an international flight, a business-class ticket can cost four times more than economy, and first class may be 10 times more. If you’re budget-conscious, it’s a no-brainer: Why break the bank for a journey that will only last a few hours? But for regular flyers, business travelers, celebrities and many others, the advantages of a premium ticket outweigh the cost.

All Eyes Turn to Houston for Cultural Diversity, Great Eats and Economic Heat

When I first moved to Houston from Boston, I knew little about Texas’ largest city beyond Astros fandom and petroleum companies. To my delight and surprise, I was quickly smitten with Bayou City. After living through the merciless winters in New England, I rejoiced in being able to kick back on my patio in a t-shirt in February. Houston’s famous hospitality perhaps stems from its reputation as America’s most diverse city, a magnet for transplants ranging from Middle America to the most far-flung corners of the globe. And, of course, all that wonderful food doesn’t hurt — craft barbecue, mom-n-pop Vietnamese restaurants and fine dining rivaling New York or Los Angeles. I won’tshift my loyalty from the Sox to the ’Stros any time soon, but I’m darn-tootin’ glad to be in Texas.
