Confused.com, a U.K.-based insurance company, recently conducted a study to find Europe’s cheapest airport parking lots. Experts at Confused.com ranked 32 European airports by the price difference between airport parking and nearby public car parks on Parkopedia.
The study found the top 10 cheapest airports to park at (compared to average nearby public parking lots) are:
- Porto Airport, Porto, Portugal — $3.96/24 hours
- Arlanda Airport, Stockholm, Sweden — $15.38/24 hours
- Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, Nice, France — $19.81/24 hours
- Dublin Airport, Dublin, Ireland — $35.61/24 hours
- Munich Airport, Munich, Germany — $18.81/24 hours
- Athens International Airport, Athens, Greece — $4.95/24 hours
- Barcelona El Prat Airport, Barcelona, Spain — $20.74/24 hours
- Málaga Airport, Malaga, Spain — $18.81/24 hours
- Fontanarossa Airport, Catania, Italy — $7.92/24 hours
- Düsseldorf Airport, Düsseldorf, Germany — $25.75/24 hours
Porto Airport comes in as the best-value airport in Europe for on-site parking in comparison to the average cost of parking nearby. Customers save 97 percent for short stays, paying just $3.96 a day when parking at the airport. On the other hand, the local average to park in a public lot in Porto is $132.40 per day. Porto Airport also has the most affordable on-site parking for week-long stays, costing just $27.72 for seven days. Nearby parking in Porto, meanwhile, costs a staggering $926.80 for seven days.
Alternatively, the study found London has the highest prices in Europe for on-site parking. Gatwick Airport, Stansted Airport and Heathrow Airport charge the most, with Gatwick Airport charging $51.80 for short-term stays, compared to local parking charging just $7.12.
