Stay in the room Ray Charles once occupied on his frequent visits to Paris. The suite now bears his name and is filled with artifacts from his visits over the years. Guests enjoy photographs by Charles’ paramour Arlette Kotchounian, offering a rare glimpse into her and Charles’ private life. Artwork by French and international artists complement the photographs, and guests of the suite also have the chance to play or admire Paris’ only in-suite Pleyel grand piano and acoustic guitar. In addition to an open dining area, the suite features one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room and walk-in closet.

The hotel first opened in 1932 and guests like Charlie Chaplin, Michelle Obama and Jacqueline Kennedy have since graced the historic property. Four specially created personality suites take inspiration from people whose lives were once woven into the hotel and Angkor region. The Henri Mouhot Suite honors the 19th-century French naturalist who was among the Europeans studying the ancient Kmer civilization who build Angkor Wat. The Louis Delaporte Suite, named for the French explorer, and Henri Marchal suite, named after the former Conservator of the Monuments of Angkor, also comprise the personality suites.

Showcasing the grandeur of the hotel, this room hosted fashion balls attended by celebrities like Nina Andrycz, Ina Benita and Zula Pogorzelska. The room was even included in one of the greatest works of Polish literature, The Doll by Boleslaw Prus. Destroyed in World War II, the room underwent extensive renovations and reassembling to be renamed the Europejski Suite, a continuing symbol of Warsaw’s rich cultural heritage.

The beautiful paneling adorning the walls was meticulously restored for the hotel’s opening, and historic fireplaces sit at each end of the suites’ sitting rooms. The two-bedroom Haldane Suite also overlooks London and Whitehall.
