In its latest network update, Southwest Airlines suspends 11 routes and adds four others to its winter schedule. Of these four routes, three connect cities to Florida.

Last operated in January 2022, Southwest reinstates service from Miami (MIA) to Columbus, Ohio (CMH). Service from Miami (MIA) to Pittsburgh (PIT), last operated in April 2022, will also be reintroduced. Travelers can soon enjoy service from West Palm Beach, Florida (PBI), to Providence (PVD).

In addition to these three routes, the airline also brings back its Chicago (MDW)–Palm Springs (PSP) route, last operated in April 2023.

Routes Southwest Airlines suspended (many of which operated once weekly) include:

• Atlanta (ATL) to San Diego (SAN)
• Dallas (DFW) to Philadelphia (PHL)
• Orlando (MCO) to Chicago (MDW)
• Miami (MIA) to New Orleans (MSY)
• Nashville (BNA) to Oakland, California (OAK)
• Chicago (MDW) to Rochester, New York (ROC)
• Nashville (BNA) to San Jose, California (SJC)
• Orlando (MCO) to El Paso, Texas (ELP)
• Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ)
• Long Beach, California (LGB) to Colorado Springs, Colorado (COS)
• Oakland (OAK) to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (SJD)

Additionally, Southwest Airlines prepares for college and professional football season with added round-trip service to popular football cities like Dallas, Detroit (DTW), Las Vegas (LAS), Kansas City (MCI), Atlanta (ATL) and Columbus (CMH).

This news closely follows the airline’s decision to scrap its long-standing, open-seating policy.
