Daily

With snowflakes arriving in Colorado any day now, new on-mountain developments in the Snowmass ski area get ready for visitors. Located in Pitkin County, Snowmass is situated in the valley of the Roaring Fork River, near the mouth of Snowmass Creek along State Highway 82 between Aspen and Basalt. The Snowmass complex includes four mountains — Buttermilk, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Snowmass.

Some of the new amenities at Snowmass include a new chairlift, Coney Express, debuting across from Snowmass Mall. The new chairlift allows for easier and faster access to Snowmass’ more than 3,300 acres of terrain. Also new is the renovation of Lynn Britt Cabin, including expanded outdoor and deck space, perfect for a quick grab-and-go snack or a lengthy après ski visit that features a new DJ booth.

New events at Collective Snowmass include a Jazz Supper Club series on most Friday evenings throughout winter, a painting class with local artist Kelly Peters and Santa Claus over the holiday season, and a Galentine’s Day brunch on Feb. 16 in honor of Valentine’s Day. Winter Comedy is back on Wednesdays with national and regional comics.

All Limelight Snowmass guests have complimentary access to reserve the following Therabody products: Theragun Pro, TheraCup, Wave Duo, Wave Solo, Wave Roller, RecoveryAir JetBoots, Therabody Goggles and TheraFace Mask.

Limelight Hotels unveiled its Summer Sunsets offer, a 30 percent discount to any stay of three or more nights at Limelight Snowmass available through Oct. 31. Other perks in this offer include a special welcome gift; complimentary breakfast each morning; $100 food and beverage credit; and access to the fully electric Audi e-tron, as part of Limelight’s Audi drive experience.

The personalized Limelight Snowmass Rock-Climbing Train & Adventure experience is one of the most-sought out activities at Snowmass. For the first two days of the stay, guests train and practice on the Limelight Snowmass indoor rock-climbing wall, one of the tallest in Colorado.  Guests have the opportunity to learn the basics and have on-the-ground education training, gear talk and prep with one of Aspen Expedition’s expert guides. On the third day, guests take skills outside with the guide and climb on Independence Pass, the real topography Limelight Snowmass is designed after.

The Anderson Ranch Arts Center Happenings and Events is located in the heart of Snowmass and invites Limelight Snowmass guests to peruse its works; take part in a workshop; attend a community event; or shop the ArtWorks store for supplies, crafts and gifts. All Limelight guests receive a lunch voucher. Happenings in late fall/early winter include Panel Discussion: Cultural Identity and Representation (Oct. 5), Visiting Artist Lecture: Kevin Umana (Oct. 14) and Spooktacular Creepy Crafts (Oct. 31). Anderson Ranch will also unveil a new exhibition this fall/winter called Last Eagle/Last Gun: Modern Recordings of Ancient Blackfoot Symbolism, Nov. 18–Jan. 24.

This year, Aspen celebrates Wintersköl over a new set of December dates for the first time, Dec. 12–15. Snowmass joins the party this year with Decemberween, a local’s Nightmare Before Christmas-themed party, complete with costume contest and prizes on Dec. 13. Dec. 14 features a Winter Intentions Lantern Display, where guests and locals are encouraged to set a dedicated intention by lighting a lantern on Snowmass Mall or in Snowmass Base Village. Also on Dec. 14, guests can enjoy extended Snowmass s’mores and a free hot chocolate extravaganza. All weekend long, Collective Snowmass hosts a holiday winter market; free ice skating and curling competitions (weather dependent); and a special evening with Open Snow, speaking on the upcoming weather forecast, on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.

America’s Air and Space Museums Share the Story of Flight

In 1903 Wilbur and Orville Wright changed the world when they flew 120 feet at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Since then, flight evolved from basic biplanes to spacecraft landing on the moon. You can see examples of these and more as you tour America’s best aviation museums.

Remarkable Medellín

Visiting Medellín in Colombia: The Country of Beauty is like stepping into a fantastic story — literally, as the city in the Western Colombian Andes region inspired Disney’s Encanto. Here, valleys, the world’s tallest palms, vibrant communities, colorful houses, garden-like balconies and more prove reality is more picturesque than anything on film. And it’s especially more tempting following Medellín’s remarkable transformation, shedding its troubled past and reawakening as a city of innovation, art, cultural richness, modern infrastructure, thriving tourism and resiliency.
