Shangri-La recently made its debut in Saudi Arabia with Shangri-La Jeddah, boasting 220 guestrooms, three restaurants, extensive wellness facilities and a kids club. The hotel is housed in Burj Assila, a 64-story landmark and Jeddah’s tallest building, nearby the city’s top shopping areas and Jeddah Corniche Circuit, home to the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.

Of the 220 guestrooms, 55 are suites and 17 are serviced apartments. All feature views over the Red Sea and Jeddah skyline with floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious balconies. Dining options include Shang Palace, serving modern Chinese cuisine in a space inspired by traditional courtyard siheyuan houses; and The Waterfront Kitchen, a yacht-inspired, all-day restaurant. At COPA, the arts of coffee and chocolate meet.

Wellness shines at Shangri-La Jeddah, with health and wellness facilities across two floors boasting state-of-the-art Technogym cardio machines and weights. The Spa at Shangri-La’s menu, crafted by Nature Bissé, focuses on effective beauty and wellness therapies. The outdoor swimming pool boasts sea views from its seventh-floor location alongside recreational facilities. A Kids’ Club entertains the little guests with activities and entertainment.

To say the Islands of Hawai‘i have long attracted travelers is an understatement. Fifteen hundred years ago, guided only by the stars, Polynesians crossed the Pacific Ocean and first set foot on the islands. Since then, European explorers, missionaries and businessmen discovered the islands in the late 1700s into the 1800s, each arriving with their own agendas. Tourism in Hawai‘i as we know it today began in the 1860s when Kīlauea, an active volcano on the Island of Hawai‘i, was considered a top destination for adventure travelers of the time.
