There’s still time to take in the monumental creations at the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Festival on Fulong Beach in Taiwan. Now in its ninth year, the festival attracts more than 300,000 visitors. Until July 10, stroll along the sandy white quartz beach and enjoy the work of sand artists including a (not full-scale) replica of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, in Dubai. This year’s sand artists represent 13 countries, including the United States, France, Portugal, Singapore, China, the Czech Republic, Taiwan, Hong Kong, France, Latvia, Russia, Lietuva and the Netherlands. The festival beach is located about 34 miles from Taipei in the Yilan Coast National Scenic Area.
