ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Driving from Sarasota to Miami to see clients requires about 3.5 hours, but it’s always well worth the effort. I’d noticed the Loews Miami Beach Hotel during my previous trips to Miami but had never stayed at the property until this visit. From the outside the destination has the quintessential South Beach vibe with Art Deco architecture, tropical landscaping and a white exterior. But upon walking into the building, you know you’re inside a modern oasis.

I didn’t have much time to check in because of a client meeting about to take place in the hotel bar, but the clerk swiftly offered me a king-sized deluxe room with an ocean view on the 16th floor, and I was on my way.

GUEST QUARTERS: Business travel rarely gives you an adequate amount of time to really enjoy yourself in destinations like Miami. And once I saw my room, I quickly realized there wouldn’t be enough time to fully appreciate everything the room offered. Most notably, I could have enjoyed the sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean from 16 floors above for days rather than a couple of hours. I immediately went straight to the balcony and snapped a few selfies, vowing to return when I had more time.

In addition to the balcony, my room featured an oversized lounging chair, king-sized bed, flat-screen TV and work area. Clean lines alongside shades of white, gray and taupe were complemented by pops of color within the artwork on the walls. The bathroom echoed the same color scheme with a large, glass-door shower; single sink in the vanity; oversized mirror; and toilet.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: With more time, there’s no doubt I would’ve enjoyed the variety of amenities offered by Loews Miami Beach. The hotel sits only steps away from the Atlantic Ocean but also boasts a zero-entry large pool. For an extra touch of luxury, the hotel offers an experience called SOAK, featuring large cabanas with air-conditioning, daybeds, exclusive Jacuzzi, butler service and more. Direct access from your hotel to the beach is coveted in Miami, and additional pool space is a must for vacationers. Loews Miami delivers both with ease.

As for dining options, Rao’s Miami Beach operates its second location here (after the original in New York City) and offers 127 years of cherished Italian family recipes. Bar Collins treated us well for light snacks and drinks with clients, along with excellent service. The hotel also sits within easy walking distance of a variety of other dining options just outside the entrance.

Finally, Sea Spa offers services and therapies to relax the body, mind and soul. Reserve early in order to receive the treatment that suits you best.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Splurge and reserve an ocean-view room for you and your party.
  • Excellent location for a weekend getaway, staycation or a bleisure trip
  • Those who come to relax will not leave disappointed!
