ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: I’d be lying if I said Atlantis, The Palm wasn’t one of my most anticipated stays during my time in Dubai. To reach the property at the tip of Palm Island took about 20 minutes by car along the “trunk.” There was a lot of activity at the entrance and in the lobby of Atlantis, not unusual at this popular destination for families and travelers from around the world. We were grateful to enjoy V.I.P. check-in benefits in a separate area before being escorted to our room, getting a mini-tour along the way of the custom art installation — a 32-foot-high, fiery- looking, hand-blown glass sculpture crafted by Dale Chihuly.

GUEST QUARTERS: We were booked in a Terrace Suite, facing Palm Island. These suites have either one or two bedrooms, making them a perfect option for groups and families. Our suite featured one bedroom, two bathrooms (one was the primary bath with a standalone tub and closet) and a complete living room. We entered to a warm welcome complete with decadent chocolate treats and flowers on the bed. The room was modern, spacious and comfortable.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: I was blown away by all the amenities at Atlantis, The Palm. For families, the built- in aquarium, adventure waterpark and watersports, and sea lion experiences make this a one-stop shop for unforgettable experiences.

However, the culinary scene attracted me most. With 35 world-class dining options on site, three created by celebrity chefs, I enjoyed some of the best food of my life. What stood out beyond the Michelin- starred cuisine of Hakkasan, the chic elegance of Nobu and the tremendous menu at Seafire Steakhouse was the service that matched — and even exceeded — the food itself. I have nothing but great things to say about the personalized service and experience offered by each and every staff member at Atlantis.

Atlantis, The Palm also includes a full-service spa and several pools along the Arabian Sea with full-service pool attendants offering drinks and dining, sunscreen and cooling mist for the Dubai heat. The Dubai Balloon also operates on the property; I experienced it at night and saw Palm Island from above, illuminated by light from the other businesses, hotels and homes.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Aquaventure Waterpark, home to 105 slides, is known as one of the biggest and best waterparks in the world.
  • Atlantis, The Palm features 13 dedicated indoor event spaces which host gather- ings from conferences to weddings and more.
  • Atlantis The Royal, a sister property, opened next door in 2023 and offers more ultra-luxury experiences.
