Accessible mainly by cable car, eriro is an idyllic, nine-bedroom hideaway tucked away in the Tyrolean Alps in Ehrwald, Austria. Through personalized experiences, guests will establish a strong connection with the region’s deep-rooted Alpine traditions.
The retreat works solely with regional companies, reimagining Alpine luxury in an innovative way. Derived from the Old German High word meaning “the entrance of the forest,” eriro boasts just nine luxury suites, each made with Alpine architecture. Suites use limited external light to prevent light pollution, and include floor-to-ceiling windows to flood the space with natural light.
The Boum suite, for instance, includes a king-sized bed, nook with a games/dining table, bathroom with a rain shower, separate bathtub, balcony with a stargazer’s daybed, tea and coffee bar, and minibar. The Himil Suite, which sleeps up to four guests, comes with a private sauna and open fireplace, freestanding bathtub, and more.
Suites are designed intentionally without a television and also come equipped with your own personal pair of woolen socks, a record player with wireless speaker, WiFi and useful items for the mountain.
The resort’s restaurant holds a zero-waste strategy. Head Chef David Franken and his team spend hours in the forest each day foraging, while also visiting local farms to source ingredients for the Tyrolean-inspired menu. Meals are prepared over local wood, stone and grains, then cooked over a real fire.
For utter relaxation, eriro’s spa, in the basement among untamed rocks, forests and meadows, is the place to go. Think plunge pools, Finnish saunas and treatment rooms. Treatments reflect the seasons of The Alps. Meditation and yoga sessions are also available.
Eriro sits 1.5 hours northwest of Innsbruck and about two hours southwest of Munich.

Remarkable Medellín
Visiting Medellín in Colombia: The Country of Beauty is like stepping into a fantastic story — literally, as the city in the Western Colombian Andes region inspired Disney’s Encanto. Here, valleys, the world’s tallest palms, vibrant communities, colorful houses, garden-like balconies and more prove reality is more picturesque than anything on film. And it’s especially more tempting following Medellín’s remarkable transformation, shedding its troubled past and reawakening as a city of innovation, art, cultural richness, modern infrastructure, thriving tourism and resiliency.
