Annabel’s, a London-based, world-renowned, private Members’ Club, recently launched its sixth restaurant, The Japanese Restaurant. Situated on the first floor of the 26,000-square-foot Club in London’s West End, the new restaurant allows guests to enjoy exceptional culinary dishes.

First opened in July, the new menu underwent six months of planning to showcase the best of Japanese ingredients and cooking styles. Signature dishes include grilled wagyu sirloin with fresh wasabi; tuna tataki; rock shrimp and yuzu kosho; eggplant, kinome miso and tomatoes; seaweed salad and apple; thinly sliced seabass and yuzu truffle dressing; and matcha eclairs with cherries for dessert.

Accompanying the dishes, The Japanese Restaurant’s drink menu highlights the world’s best sakes and shochu, as well as some of the finest and rarest Champagnes in the world, available by the bottle. A first for Annabel’s, Coravin also allows guests to enjoy Champagnes by the glass. A wide selection of Japanese whiskies, including a rare bottle of Yamakazi 55, don the bar, as well.

Drawing inspiration from Miyamoto Musashi’s The Book of Five Rings, the drink menu spans five rings or chapters — Fire, Water, Wind, Earth and Void. Within these chapters lie cocktails like Flames of Tokyo, a cocktail comprised of Suntory Toki whisky, Flame Shrub and nori leaf oils topped with soda water. Airbender, another concoction, features Ki No Bi Sei gin, Honjozo sake, Japanese-spiced cordial, absinthe and apple topped with soda.

On the first floor of the Club, The Elephant Bar embodies an elegant and contemporary Japanese dining space. Featuring traditional Japanese prints and details, the space highlights antique rugs; grand, handblown Murano glass chandeliers; and pops of turquoise for a refreshing atmosphere. Ochre and Terracotta velvet banquettes and hand-embroidered cushions provide the ultimate spot for members and their guests to relax.
