This spring, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch will once again burst into bloom. More than 70 million Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers shows off their rainbow colors on a 55-acre setting just north of San Diego near California’s iconic coast.
“Visitors can’t help but smile here,” said Fred Clarke, general manager,The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. “We are, first and foremost, a sustainable working farm, and each spring The Flower Fields invites our visitors to ‘live colorfully’ via our rainbow of ranunculus. It is our distinct honor to serve as a multi-hued backdrop to so many family trips, romantic dates and even proposals and weddings. We look forward to all the memories in the making that 2023 holds.”
This year, the working flower ranch adds even more reasons to visit. Additional programming includes a meditation and sound healing workshop, sunset wine tastings, tea in the garden and flower flow yoga — an hour-long flow class overlooking the flower fields. Live outdoor music and concerts will feature Bayou Brothers, Bill Magee Blues Band, Sara Petite and Cool Rush.
Visitors can also look forward to the framed botanical art workshop, picnic and flowers, Canon photography workshop and charcuterie workshop led by Bits & Bites Graze Boards. Other special flower-themed events include Joyful Flowers, presented by Ikebana Sangetsu West Coast Group. The presentation explores traditional Japanese contemplative art of flower arranging using found objects such as stones and shells.
The Flower Fields are located at 5704 Paseo Del Norte. Details about concerts, workshops and other events, along with advance tickets for purchase, are available here.

There are a few words that come to mind when the subject of airport hotels comes up. Usually, fun, cute and lively aren’t on that list. When general manager Evgeny Vreijling or his team members welcome guests, they insist Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is not an airport hotel but a hotel that happens to be near the airport. He also emphasizes that, while Amsterdam is regarded as the gateway to Europe, the hotel was designed to be a gateway to the rest of the Netherlands.
