Arrival/Check-in: I walked into the Pan Pacific and automatically looked up. I think that is a natural reaction for new arrivals, as the 35-story atrium is an awesome sight. The center is occupied by a newly renovated bar and lounge done in vibrant colors. The reception desk — as long as the atrium is large — is manned by staff in smart white suits. Check-in was prompt, personal and efficient. I was escorted directly up to my room on the Pacific Club floor in a bubble elevator so I could enjoy another view of the magnificent lobby as I ascended. A glass of fresh juice and a cold hand towel awaited me upstairs. (18/20)
Guest Quarters: My newly renovated guestroom, furnished in cheerful colors, offered comfort and size, but the primary advantages of staying on the Pacific Club floor are the privileges you enjoy outside the guestroom in the Pacific Club lounge. Of course the king-size bed, L’Occitaine bathroom amenities, Hansgrohe massage shower and all-in-one DVD on the large flat-screen TV made my visit extra-comfortable. I also enjoyed knowing that a 24-hour butler service was available, even though I did not to use it this time around. (13/15)
Services/Amenities: The amenity I took advantage of most was the Pacific Club lounge, which had great views over Singapore and pro vided an intimate feeling of service in such a large hotel. I also appreciated the free wireless Internet access in the guestroom and the hotel’s great restaurants — eight in all — from a gourmet deli to fine dining restaurants on an international scale. I would have enjoyed an extra day to take advantage of the spa and the state-of-the-art gym, and to test my tennis skills on the outdoor courts. (43/45)
The Experience: The Pan Pacific Singapore has 775 guestrooms and suites. In a hotel of this size, I always wonder how individualized the service will be, however the Pacific Club floor was like a hotel within the hotel. It provided the special touches and personal attention that make a trip more enjoyable, and I would certainly choose a Pacific Club guestroom over an ordinary guestroom on my next visit; the difference was significant. Attached to the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Center, and Marina Bay, home to a 500-store shopping mall, the hotel has a great location for business travelers. (17/20)

Mindful drinking with an eye on wellness can mean ordering a zero-proof or low ABV cocktail instead of one that’s boozy and stirred, or slowly savoring one glass of wine instead of tossing back two or three. But sometimes, where you’re sipping a beverage can have just as much of a positive effect on your mind, body and spirit as what’s in your glass.
