This designation will permanently protect the site for future generations, helping to tell the history of Japanese Americans’ incarceration during World War II. President Joe Biden also recently designated Camp Hale, a World War II training center near Vail, as his first national monument as president, as well as the ninth national monument in Colorado.
History Colorado recently launched the Black Heritage Trail, an interactive mobile app mapping sites and places of Black historical significance. Visitors and locals can embark on their own tours to learn more about Black history throughout the state.
