Opened last year, the design of Pan Pacific Orchard hotel set a high standard for high-rise, tropical hospitality design.
The 347-room Singapore property, designed by Singapore-based WOHA Architects, offers a tropical, breezy, open-air architecture with lush greenery throughout, including in all social spaces and the popular garden terraces.
The dramatic Forest Terrace offers a cascading water plaza edged by forest trees. The Beach Terrace is a tropical oasis with an organically shaped emerald lagoon, a sandy “beachfront” and palm groves floating above popular Orchard Road.
Flanked by the hotel’s bar and lounge, Sky Terrace showcases a manicured garden with reflection pools and planter beds, and, at the top, the Cloud Terrace offers a landscaped event plaza surrounded by a 400-seat ballroom, function room, planter islands and reflection pools, all protected by a photovoltaic canopy.
Together with the landscaping on the terraces, the building’s construction replaced 200 percent of its footprint with greenery, bringing nature and biodiversity into an urban environment. The feeling of always being outdoors is made possible by the open-air, cross-ventilated spaces, designed specifically for Singapore’s equatorial climate, where warm, humid air; low wind speeds; and frequent, yet unpredictable heavy rainfall make fully outdoor events a challenge.
The hotel’s signature columns, covered with lush plantings, along with the reflective ceilings which act as thermal mirrors, provide radiant cooling by doubling the surface area of gardens and water. Pan Pacific Orchard has obtained the Green Mark Platinum rating, Singapore’s highest environmental certification.
Arriving at the Forest Terrace entrance, hotel guests enjoy a breezy check-in surrounded by greenery. All 347 rooms are designed for comfort and luxury, including the 400-thread-count cotton bedding and bath amenities by French company Diptyque. There are in-room, filtered water dispensers as well as reusable bottles made with ocean-bound plastic material. The primary advantage of using Ocean Bound plastics is it is a sustainable and environmentally responsible choice. Any material used through this process prevents that material from winding up in our oceans.
Club Lounge guests are provided with a dedicated check-in desk, late check-out options, and exclusive access to a plush 130-seat Pacific Club Lounge within the Garden Terrace fitted with custom-designed furnishings and counters topped in Italian-treated leathered marble. The Pacific Club Lounge offers a private retreat with indoor and outdoor alfresco spaces overlooking the landscaped lawns and cabanas of the Garden Terrace.
The hotel’s signature restaurant, Mosella, offers Mediterranean cuisine with a Peruvian twist, all managed by Executive Chef Pedro Samper. At the 11th-level Garden Terrace, guests hang out at Florette, part of the hotel and the neighborhood’s newest destination bar, known to have the city’s best Champagne menu.
The center of the 18th-floor Cloud Terrace is the 6,400-square-foot Claymore Ballroom, one of the highest in the city, with a panoramic LED video wall, floor-to-ceiling windows and an occupancy of up to 670 persons.

Remarkable Medellín
Visiting Medellín in Colombia: The Country of Beauty is like stepping into a fantastic story — literally, as the city in the Western Colombian Andes region inspired Disney’s Encanto. Here, valleys, the world’s tallest palms, vibrant communities, colorful houses, garden-like balconies and more prove reality is more picturesque than anything on film. And it’s especially more tempting following Medellín’s remarkable transformation, shedding its troubled past and reawakening as a city of innovation, art, cultural richness, modern infrastructure, thriving tourism and resiliency.
