Business travelers can count the capital of Russia as one of the most expensive destinations for work-related ventures abroad. In a recent survey conducted by HRG, a global travel management company, results revealed Moscow is home to the world´s most expensive hotel rooms. In 2015, the average rate for one night in a hotel in Moscow was $366.69. The four cities that fell behind Moscow in the realm of most-expensive lodging include the Brazilian cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, followed by Mexico City and Sydney. The results of the biannual hotel survey show hotels did not experience the growth they had anticipated and thus have had to raise rates in order to meet their financial goals. In an effort to reduce fares in the coming years, major hotel groups will initiate new pricing structures and rewards options for frequent travelers to make it easier to get a discounted room abroad.
