Meliá Hotels International, the largest hotel group in Spain and a global leader in hospitality, announced ME Guangzhou, a collaboration between ME by Meliá and Guangzhou Aocheng Investments Company Ltd, set to open in 2027. ME by Meliá makes its highly anticipated debut in the Asia-Pacific region with this opening. Me Guangzhou will welcome guests from around the world to experience the vibrant city of Guangzhou.
ME Guangzhou will be located at Guangzhou Macau Place within Huangpu Bay Business Circle, boasting a prime location set to become the second central business district in the city. The region is on a path of growth and progress, with the construction of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Express Rail Link next year connecting Guangzhou to other popular cities in Southern China.
The property’s ideal location means breathtaking views of the Pearl River, as well as sitting just steps away from Guangzhou’s most iconic landmarks such as the Dan Jia Watery Region and Huangpu Military Academy. Blending the city’s rich history with the hotel’s contemporary charm, ME Guangzhou will offer unforgettable luxury stays with immersive city experiences.
ME Guangzhou will include 120 rooms and suites with personalized services ensuring every aspect of guests’ stays meets their needs and offers elevated, luxury experiences. The new hotel will offer a number of diverse dining options, including an all-day restaurant, specialty venues, a Mediterranean-style bistro and a rooftop bar with city views. The property will feature state-of-the-art facilities, event spaces including ballrooms and meeting rooms, a spa and a fitness center.

In Springbrook National Park, about 90 minutes south of Brisbane, the sky is aglow. But this isn’t the sort of glittery glimmer I expected from Australia’s buzzy Gold Coast. I’d heard about the sun-dappled beaches framed with scintillating sand, the sunscreen-slathered bodies at play, the way the ocean water whirls with what looks like bits of gold dust, the amusement parks, the meter maids clad in bikinis, and the high-rise hotels with their reflective-mirrored windows and popular bars that blare tunes beside the waves. Before arriving at what I imagined to look a bit like Miami’s South Beach in places (and it does along the coast in parts), I hadn’t focused much on thoughts of ancient trees, rugged outback and night skies luminous with glowworms. This nighttime nature foray, however, shows me another version of the Gold Coast ... one where nocturnal safaris veritably light up my life.
