Low-cost air travel has had a turbulent past in Canada; the country’s vast geography, relatively small population and high airport-landing taxes discouraged many budget airlines from operating in the country.

But Lynx Air, a new Calgary-based, low-cost carrier, announced routes to Canadian cities, including St Johns (Newfoundland), Halifax, Toronto, Hamilton (Ontario), Winnipeg, Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary.  Additionally, Kelowna (British Columbia) was added to the schedule April 15 and Victoria (British Columbia) will start May 12.

Lynx Air uses a fleet of brand-new Boeing 737 aircraft, all meeting the highest internationally certified safety standards. All aircraft are also certified by Transport Canada.

The airline’s inaugural flight route from Calgary to Vancouver started this April, and additional destinations are gradually added to the schedule, with all city pairs opening by July.

“We are excited to be announcing expansion plans of our Toronto flights, providing Toronto travelers with more choice and competition as they seek to reconnect with family and friends, and discover more of this beautiful country,” said Merren McArthur, CEO, Lynx Air. “By the end of July, we will be flying 92 flights per week in and out of the Toronto area, which is more than 17,000 seats per week.”

Lynx Air’s fleet of Boeing 737s seat up to 189 passengers and feature Boeing Sky Interior lighting, large overhead bins and extra legroom seats (available for a fee).

Lynx will operate 148 flights per week coast to coast across Canada by this summer, which equates to more than 27,000 seats per week.

  • Toronto to Halifax from CAD$129 ($100)
  • Toronto to St. John’s from CAD$209 ($162)
  • Toronto to Edmonton from CAD$149 ($116)
  • Toronto to Calgary from CAD$119 ($93)
  • Toronto to Vancouver from CAD$139 ($108)
  • Toronto to Winnipeg from CAD$159 ($124)

These prices represent Lynx Air’s lowest one-way fares, mid-week, summer 2022, including taxes and fees, from Toronto to various Canadian cities. Fares are shown in Canadian and U.S. dollars.

Immerse in an Invigorating Thermal Journey at Scandinave Spa Whistler

The glittering green pines and burst of jasmine lake beyond almost made me forget about the aches in my legs that slowly developed after the promised hour-long hike ran into the third hour. And, oh, there were my hips, showing up to remind me I was no longer in my 20s. I didn’t mind, though, because the vision that surrounded me during our guided walk through Garibaldi Park to Cheakamus Lake in Whistler, British Columbia, with Mountain Skills Academy and Adventures proved worthy of a thousand postcards.

Street food vendors sling steaming noodles along roadways while tucked-away restaurants serve multicourse, Michelin-level cuisine. Roadways jam with cars as jewel-toned tuk tuks whizz through the gridlock. Long considered a tourist mecca, Bangkok also makes for a dynamic, budding location for corporate travelers.

Explore the Beguiling Towns of Sicily’s Val di Noto

Best known to tourists for the boisterous chaos of Palermo, the views of Mount Etna from idyllic Taormina, and for that capricious volcano itself, Sicily has far more to draw travelers. In Sicily’s southeast corner, one region encapsulates the Sicilian spirit that has seen it through conquest and natural disasters, a region less well-known to tourists but one of the island’s most beautiful and fascinating.
