Luxurious Spa Opens At Ireland’s Ashford Castle

Daily

The recently restored Ashford Castle added a new spa and gym, marking the completion of the castle’s two-year restoration and enhancement program.

The Spa at Ashford Castle is housed in a striking new bronze conservatory designed by renowned French architect Philippe Bonino. Complementing the facility’s state-of-the-art amenities and relaxing treatments is Ashford Castle’s idyllic setting in County Mayo’s countryside.

Decorated in muted greys, greens and creams, The Spa features five treatment rooms, an invigorating hammam, steam room, manicure and pedicure area, a relaxation suite and an outdoor terrace boasting views of Ireland’s second largest lake. Guests can choose from an extensive range of therapies and three product lines, including organic Irish spa brand Voya based on hand-harvested seaweed, internationally renowned Elemis and Red Carnation Hotels’ B | Africa product range.

The Spa also hosts PureFlow, a fitness program designed to enhance the body’s blood flow in order to make the brain more alert, combat fatigue and help improve endurance, performance and recovery.

The Tree of Life mural by celebrated South African ceramic mosaic artist Jane Du Rand is the facility’s central design feature, stretching across an entire wall of the pool area. Drawing inspiration from Irish folklore and Celtic mythology, the mural centers around an oak tree, which the Celts believed was a cosmic storehouse of wisdom and whose acorns were considered good luck, and features woodland creatures in the tree’s branches and roots.

To celebrate the addition of the new spa, guests are offered two expertly designed promotions, The Ultimate Ashford Escape and Awaken Your Senses, featuring overnight accommodations and treatments starting from $1,063 and $778, respectively.

Set on 350 acres in County Mayo on the shores of Lough Corrib and the River Cong, Ashford Castle offers 85 guestrooms and a number of unique facilities and services, including an equestrian center, fishing school, nine-hole golf course, school of falconry, several dining rooms billiard room, cigar terrace and wine cellar.

Recharge with a Hollywood-Ready Spa Day at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills

While cooler and milder weather in Los Angeles means a pleasanter travel experience (particularly for a Floridian accustomed to humid summer heat), the drier weather also often means lingering and visual effects on the skin, something I began to feel the moment I stepped off my plane in the City of Angels. Low humidity and winter weather might be great for my hair, but my skin was tired and dry and eager for some much- needed nourishment and hydration.
