If you love the combination of wine and luxury, it’s time to put the country of Georgia on your travel radar. With a winemaking heritage spanning more than 8,000 years, the country’s Kakheti wine region is home to more than 200 wine varieties, including region-specific Rkatsiteli, Kakhetian Mtsvane, Khikhvi, Kisi and Saperavi.
Getting there is easy, with direct flights between Paris and Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi. Lodging choices are just as easy: This region of Black Sea beaches and mountain hamlets boasts the elegant Château Buera at Lopota Lake Resort & Spa, where wine enthusiasts can drink in views of the Caucasus Mountains while sampling Georgian-European fusion cuisine. Sample the range of outstanding wines in the fine-dining restaurant, upon the open-air terrace or in the elegant Château Buera Lounge.
Besides its private vineyards, winery, riding stable and event space, the property includes 232 rooms and suites, as well as a tranquil indoor spa and wellness center. At the spa, the wine connection continues with the four-hour Elixir of Youth treatment. Guests will be pampered during a 30-minute Thalasso Vinotherapy Bath, 90-minute Time of Ritual experience, an hour-long hot stone ritual, and an hour-long revitalizing facial treatment.
Other pampering options include the 30-minute Royal Therapy milk and honey bath, and the Thalasso Mont Saint Michel exfoliating treatment with ocean mud and salt crystals. During the Lopota Forest Spa therapy, guests are soothed in a 30-minute Thalasso Therapeutic Bath Lopota Secret, a 90-minute exfoliating ocean salt body scrub and wrap, and an hour-long rejuvenating Deliza Di Riso facial treatment.
