Zambia stands out as Africa’s premier destination for adventure and extreme sports. The country’s Victoria Falls region hosts a variety of activities that attract visitors from around the world, from bungee jumping off Victoria Falls Bridge to whitewater rafting along the untamed Zambezi River.
Acknowledged as one of the safest destinations in the world to visit, Zambia is a beautiful country in southern Africa and host to one of the seven natural wonders of the world, Mosi-oa-Tunya Victoria Falls. Zambia offers travelers authentic and natural experiences with beautiful wildlife, 20 national parks, 36 game management areas and 73 ethnic groups. Hosting the world’s largest mammal migration, the world’s largest hippo population, the world’s largest man-made lake and Africa’s second-largest wildebeest migration, Zambia offers unforgettable experiences exploring the real Africa.
Travelers can experience Victoria Falls from a unique vantage point with a microlight flight, often referred to as “Flight of Angels.” This exhilarating adventure provides either a 15- or 30-minute journey, offering aerial views of the falls and surrounding landscapes.
The shorter flight takes passengers high above Victoria Falls, with the pilot maneuvering close enough for them to feel the spray of the cascading water below. As they glide over Batoka Gorge and nearby islands, there is a sweeping view of the Zambezi River. The longer flight extends the adventure over Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, where passengers may spot hippos basking in the river or elephants meandering along the riverbank. The 15-minute microlight flight can be booked for one passenger at a time and is priced from $185.
For a combination of adventure and wildlife, take a canoeing safari along the Zambezi River. Paddle through calm waters while surrounded by wildlife and diverse birdlife. While it may seem serene at first glance, prepare for a surge of excitement when encountering the Zambezi River’s hidden treasures: hippos, crocodiles and other creatures along the riverbanks, a truly unique safari experience. Victoria Falls Canoeing Company offers trips from a half day up to adventures that island-hop daily.
Experience the thrill of swimming at the edge of Victoria Falls with a visit to Livingstone Island, also known as the Devil’s Pool. After a short boat ride from the banks of the Zambezi River, guided by experienced staff, visitors reach the island where David Livingstone first laid eyes on the falls. From this vantage point, view Victoria Falls, with vibrant rainbows adding to the spectacle, and take the plunge into the Devil’s Pool, a natural rock pool located right at the edge of the falls. With the assistance of guides and safety ropes, swimmers can safely swim to the pool’s edge, where a natural rock ledge creates a barrier, enabling them to peer over the cascading waters. Lie back on the rock ledge and soak in the surroundings before being treated to breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea back on Livingstone Island. The Livingstone Island Morning Breezer tour is priced from $125 per person.
Whitewater rafting on the Zambezi River is considered by experts as the best one-day rafting trip on the planet. The Zambezi River is home to large waves, with Class IV and V rapids providing an adrenaline rush like no other. It is a thrilling adventure guaranteeing a wild ride and incredible memories. The Rafting Day Trip is priced from $150 per person.
Thrill-seekers can also engage in the ultimate adrenaline-pumping adventure with bungee jumping at one of the world’s greatest bungee sites. With a countdown echoing in their ears, adventurers launch themselves into a heart-stopping, 365-foot freefall, experiencing four seconds of pure adrenaline as they hurtle toward the Zambezi River’s tumultuous rapids below. Bungee jumping from Victoria Falls Bridge is priced from $168 per person.

Santiago is divided into comunas (districts) and then into barrios (neighborhoods). Founded in 1541 by Spain, Santiago suffered repeatedly from earthquakes, floods and civil disorder. It is no wonder its barrios are unique and distinct — some with steep terrain crawling up into the foothills of the Andes, some sitting close to the urban center and boasting busy cafés, music clubs, restaurants, food markets, and new residential and commercial high-rises.

Dec 16, 2024Switzerland’s Lavaux Region Tempts Wine Lovers with Bottles They Can’t Get Back Home
Switzerland’s most famous exports — impeccably designed timepieces and luscious chocolate — are available around the world. Its wine, on the other hand, proves as elusive as an easy ascent up the Matterhorn. The Swiss understandably prefer to keep most of it for themselves, to sip après ski alongside bubbling fondue pots of melted Emmental. If you want to taste their homegrown beverage, imbued with crisp mountain air, intense sunlight and sparkling glacial waters, you might have to jump on a plane.
