Located a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe, Olivier Bertrand recently opened Hôtel Norman for those looking to explore the city.
Hôtel Norman gives a home-like feel, featuring only 29 rooms and eight suites. Turning intimacy into supreme luxury, each guest is given discrete but highly personalized service. The hotel offers a comfortable stay for all kinds of travelers with connecting rooms, balconies with views of the Eiffel Tower and rooftop suites.
The hotel’s exterior features a stone façade with curved-glass windows and leafy balconies, all topped by a dome. Once inside, guests are welcomed by a comfortable library lounge with a fireplace instead of a traditional reception area. The interior is furnished with vintage sofas, objects from antique shops and stunning artwork. Brazilian designs mix with 1950s furniture, and geometric prints keep company with American paintings of the 1970s.
Rooms and suites are decorated with the same materials as the living areas with custom furnishings from antique dealers. Bathrooms features mosaic-tile walls and a marble sink on a vanity made of rosewood, glass and steel.
The hotel restaurant, led by Chef Thiou, features a fusion-food concept in tune with contemporary appetites with gourmet dishes inspired by French cuisine and her home of Thailand.
Hôtel Norman marks the fifth property in Bertrand’s portfolio.

Dec 18, 2024Stroll the Captivating Barrios of the Chilean Capital
Santiago is divided into comunas (districts) and then into barrios (neighborhoods). Founded in 1541 by Spain, Santiago suffered repeatedly from earthquakes, floods and civil disorder. It is no wonder its barrios are unique and distinct — some with steep terrain crawling up into the foothills of the Andes, some sitting close to the urban center and boasting busy cafés, music clubs, restaurants, food markets, and new residential and commercial high-rises.

Dec 16, 2024Switzerland’s Lavaux Region Tempts Wine Lovers with Bottles They Can’t Get Back Home
Switzerland’s most famous exports — impeccably designed timepieces and luscious chocolate — are available around the world. Its wine, on the other hand, proves as elusive as an easy ascent up the Matterhorn. The Swiss understandably prefer to keep most of it for themselves, to sip après ski alongside bubbling fondue pots of melted Emmental. If you want to taste their homegrown beverage, imbued with crisp mountain air, intense sunlight and sparkling glacial waters, you might have to jump on a plane.
