Oetker Collection sets to transform Capri’s first hotel, originally built in 1822, into a luxurious and elegant property called Hotel La Palma, Capri. Slated to open spring 2023, the 50-room and -suite hotel marks the collection’s 11th hotel, with interior designer Francis Sultana and local craftsmen and artisans working to create a new masterpiece.

“Capri is an island that I love. Hotel La Palma is an iconic hotel that everyone will adore in its new lease of life,” said Sultana. “I wanted my design to reflect the very special relationship I have with Capri, that was love at first sight from my first visit in my early 20s; an island of romanticism and great aesthetes with a beauty and great inspiration for creativity, in all its forms.”
The renovation of the historic hotel sees the room count decrease from 80 to 50 rooms, allowing each room to include its own balcony or terrace. Hotel La Palma, Capri will also feature 18 suites. In addition to reimagined rooms and suites, a restaurant, bar and terrace will grace the property. Under the direction of Chef Gennaro Esposito, Gennaro’s will serve authentic Italian cuisine. The hotel’s rooftop restaurant and bar, Bianca, will welcome guests late into the night with bites also created by Chef Gennaro Esposito. Hotel La Palma will boast a brand-new pool deck, featuring an elegant pool bar.

Guests will enjoy the hotel’s indulgent spa, complete with three treatment rooms, including one double treatment suite, a sauna, steam bath, ice shower, relaxation space and fitness center. Hotel La Palma, Capri will also boast three boutiques.

Splashes of Mediterranean blue, green and turquoise dance around the hotel’s interior. These colors complement the curves of edges found in the reception and concierge desks, as well as the ceiling frescos of Roberto Ruspoli. Planters, niches and columns further add to the hotel’s relaxed and seaside atmosphere.

May 5, 2025Costa Rica Lures with Modern Amenities, Rural Charm and a Simple Way of Life
When I first visited Costa Rica, I was ostensibly there for business. But after a few days in this tropical paradise, my trip started to feel more like a vacation than work. This isn’t to say I neglected my obligations, rather that my work meetings felt more pleasurable (and productive) than usual. The gorgeous jungle landscape combined with the pura vida lifestyle is a simply infectious combination, and it’s unsurprising the nation consistently ranks as the most popular tourist destination in Central America.
