The already creepy Winchester Mystery House hosts a wealth of spooky events this month.

A gourmet Halloween-themed dinner in the estate’s ballroom, Sarah’s Spirited Supper, includes a four-course meal and wine pairings, Oct. 19. The intimate dining experience is limited to 40 attendees and tickets are $259 each.

Select evenings through Nov. 2, the property takes visitors on a “suspenseful walk-through experience.” Guests have a chance to see some of the home’s private rooms not on display during public tours. The experience is not recommended for children under 13 and tickets start at $44 each.

Children are invited to participate in the free Trick-or-Treat Trail, Oct. 26–27, 12–4 p.m. Families walk through the gardens and receive candy, treats and possibly some tricks. Afterward, children enjoy bouncy houses, games and other activities.

“Winchester Mystery House will be the prime location to enjoy thrills, chills and spooky fun this Halloween season,” says Walter Magnuson, general manager, Winchester Mystery House. “Whether guests are seeking a fun family outing or an immersive dining or horror experience, there will be engaging events for all ages.”

Located in San Jose, California, the Winchester Mystery House was originally owned by Sarah Pardee Winchester, heiress to the Winchester Repeating Arms fortune. The architectural wonder is one of the country’s most well-known haunted mansions and is a California Historic State Landmark. Tours of the house have been available since 1923.

The Adolphus Hotel Review

The Adolphus Hotel, an Autograph Collection Hotel from Marriott, is a gateway to a bygone era of grandeur intertwined with modern sophistication. Built in 1912 and the first luxury hotel in Dallas, the castle-inspired beauty is now on the National Register of Historic Places, having entertained presidents, royalty and celebrities. The Beaux-Arts architecture of The Adolphus contains grand public spaces of polished woods gleaming under imposing chandeliers downstairs, while 407 rooms and suites are spacious and contemporary, following a 2018 remodel that’s helping The Adolphus remain one of the city’s top stays more than a century after opening.
