Heading to Scotland for a scenic road trip? Consider the Perthshire Tourist Route that begins north of Dunblane and wends deep through the country’s core to Ballinluig. Along the way, pause for a spa treatment or local meal in Gleneagles, then head off to the Library of Innerpeffray and admire the colossal book collection. Next, wander the grounds at Drummond Castle Gardens where thick hedges of ancient yew and beech trees with copper leaves grow.
Your next stop is Comrie Croft, where activities include walking, mountain biking and adding the peak of Ben Chonzie to your collection of mountain tops. Enjoy a break at the Tea Garden, then continue on to learn the finer points of whiskey blending during the Famous Grouse Experience. Further on at Crieff Hydro, slip into the waters of a Victorian spa or embark on a tree-top adventure course.
Next, immerse yourself in Scotland’s history and heritage at The Scottish Crannog Centre and take a Highland Safari to spot wild red deer and golden eagles. The route continues to Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, where single malt production for Dewar’s world-renowned Scotch whiskey takes place. A tour includes highlights of the distillery process and samples.
The route wraps up at Iain Burnett The Highland Chocolatier, where visitors can sample signature chocolates and award-winning Velvet Truffles. Peruse the exhibition, watch a demonstration of chocolate-making, and finish your route with a relaxing walk at Pitlochry Dam. Be sure to keep an eye out for wild Atlantic salmon scaling a special fish ladder used during the annual migration.

There are a few words that come to mind when the subject of airport hotels comes up. Usually, fun, cute and lively aren’t on that list. When general manager Evgeny Vreijling or his team members welcome guests, they insist Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is not an airport hotel but a hotel that happens to be near the airport. He also emphasizes that, while Amsterdam is regarded as the gateway to Europe, the hotel was designed to be a gateway to the rest of the Netherlands.
