Rafting lovers know there’s no excitement quite like spring snowmelt, when river waters run fast and deep. Far and Away Adventures understands, and has added six luxury wilderness rafting trips to their summer offerings. Idaho’s sparkling Middle Fork of the Salmon River is the setting for six-day, five-night expeditions within the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.

“These additional trips are especially good news for travelers who want to unplug their devices and get away from it all in style,” said Steve Lentz, founder and owner of the 45-year-old company. “Our service-motivated guides ensure the beer is cold, the shower water is hot and the tents are ready for rafters’ arrival at each night’s camp.”

Each trip includes daily guided paddling excursions, yoga classes, massage, hiking and restorative dips in backcountry hot springs. Be sure to work up an appetite: Trips include a floating wine cellar and gourmet meals skillfully prepared with locally harvested ingredients incorporated into some dishes. The approximate 2.5 guides-per-guest ratio also means outstanding service throughout your journey.

Generously sized, two-person tents have carpets, raised beds and tables, and mornings come with the delivery of fresh, hot coffee and hot towels. Steamy camp showers and gear transport add to the camp tranquility, as do evening campfires and stargazing. Thanks to the geographic location along the border of the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, you’ll also have great views of the cosmos overhead.

Worried about losing your sunglasses while steering through river rapids (or skiing, horseback riding or mountain biking)? Ombraz offers a great, stylish solution: Ombraz armless sunglasses. Try the cool, slightly retro Viale style, or choose from its larger collection. German-engineered and scratch- and smudge-resistant, each pair of Ombraz features aerospace-grade, feather-light frames; sculpted nosepads; and a marine-grade cord constructed of a custom weave Japanese nylon that’s abrasion-resistant and 100 percent recyclable. This fully adjustable cord keeps your sunglasses perfectly in place, so they’ll still be there when you’ve had enough adventure for one day. And because you already love the great outdoors, you’ll be happy to know, as part of the Shade Project, Ombraz plants 20 mangrove trees for every pair of sunglasses they sell — so far, that’s 1,871,290 and counting.

Find Inner Peace in India, the Birthplace of Yoga

How far would you travel in pursuit of inner peace? Though the wellness industry has grown in popularity for quite a while, he business skyrocketed post-pandemic, with more and more travelers booking yoga retreats in the name of serenity, spirituality and, of course, self-care. When I decided it was zen I sought, I figured I should travel to its very birthplace: India. Though the idea of traveling in India initially felt more exciting than relaxing, I found the contrast between the bustling activity outside and the quiet reflection of my yoga practice to be an intoxicating combination.

Australia’s Amazing Gold Coast Buzzes with Family-Friendly Activities

In Springbrook National Park, about 90 minutes south of Brisbane, the sky is aglow. But this isn’t the sort of glittery glimmer I expected from Australia’s buzzy Gold Coast. I’d heard about the sun-dappled beaches framed with scintillating sand, the sunscreen-slathered bodies at play, the way the ocean water whirls with what looks like bits of gold dust, the amusement parks, the meter maids clad in bikinis, and the high-rise hotels with their reflective-mirrored windows and popular bars that blare tunes beside the waves. Before arriving at what I imagined to look a bit like Miami’s South Beach in places (and it does along the coast in parts), I hadn’t focused much on thoughts of ancient trees, rugged outback and night skies luminous with glowworms. This nighttime nature foray, however, shows me another version of the Gold Coast ... one where nocturnal safaris veritably light up my life.
