Renowned designer Ken Fulk recently created artful new spaces for Four Seasons Hotel Boston, including a dramatic redesign of its lobby and porte cochere.

Upon guest arrival, a revitalized courtyard awaits them, with the area modeled after a stately Boston residence. The lobby lounge is now reimagined as a series of smaller spaces with a front desk crafted in tooled leather and under expansive original artwork of Boston Public Garden, opposite the hotel. A mural features a swan, and one swan holds a key to a hidden mystery closet next to the front desk. Young guests receive that “kids-only” key upon arrival and are invited to select toys to enjoy during their stay.

Event spaces also received a new look and include the 3,700-square-foot Ballroom overlooking Boston Public Garden from floor-to-ceiling windows; Aujourd’hui Event Space and private lounge; and the new Sanctuary, a private garden courtyard for cocktail parties, intimate weddings and receptions.

Fulk designed Coterie restaurant and lounge to boast an intimate, club-like setting. The new space is open daily for lunch, dinner and bar service and was inspired by Boston’s tradition of thinkers and creatives gathering to share ideas and socialize. Sottovento serves complimentary coffee, tea and beverages every morning, and a new Coffee Concierge service allows guests to place seamless coffee orders. The Vaults refreshment pantries on every floor burst with snacks, treats and beverages, all complimentary 24 hours a day.

Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz Review

Switzerland’s most storied ski town (the one, in fact, credited with pioneering the very concept of Alpine tourism), St. Moritz legendarily attracts the rich, the famous, celebutantes and the wannabes. Yet, there’s something compellingly earthy about the place, a town on a lake rich with natural environs, where winter sports and summer activities draw athletes and mountain lovers aplenty. As at the mountain restaurants (where some arrive by chairlift rather than muscle movement, and all types of diners and imbibers convene), Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz straddles the old and new, the lavish and the understated. The hotel, one of St. Moritz’s oldest, opened as a spa haven in 1864, set atop a healing mineral spring.

Pause for a Harmonious Blend of Wellness and Nature in Hong Kong

I was illiterate when I first visited Hong Kong. Aged 17, I couldn’t understand a word of the Chinese neon signs. But 40 years later, I have changed, Hong Kong has changed, and my ability to understand the signs has changed. Now I point my phone at the unintelligible script, open a translation app, and everything magically morphs into English. The exotic becomes mundane: Shoe Store. Office Supplies. Laundry. Dentist. Insurance Broker.
