Summer is in full swing; and as I plan my fall and winter activities, I am taking some R&R in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, enjoying beach time, golf and great meals cooked on the grill. We’re looking forward to a successful The Trazees awards next month at the beautiful The Joseph Hotel in Nashville. Summer travel has been an adventure. I spent a few days trying to make it to Miami for a gala event with our friends from the Dominican Republic at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Facing many canceled flights and several Ubers back and forth to the airport, my ability to make the trip ended when Florida slowed down flights due to epic rain covering most of the state. I understand more than 1,000 flights were canceled due to the storm.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the Leisure Lifestyle Awards will take place at InterContinental Miami on May 22, 2025. We are thrilled to host our first event in Miami, especially at this lovely property which my colleague Carrie Cox reviewed in the December 2023 issue of Global Traveler. The property recently completed a $36 million renovation, making the hotel a must when you visit Miami.
