It’s not too early to start planning autumn travel and Peter Sommer Travels should be on your radar. The cruise and tour operator takes guests on journeys through Croatia, Greece, Italy and Turkey, focusing on archaeology, nature and food. Cruise the Cyclades or Dalmatian Coast, walk to ancient sites in Turkey or enjoy delicious dishes in Sicily.

“Autumn is a truly wonderful time to get away to our Mediterranean destinations,” said Peter Sommer, founder, Peter Sommer Travels. “The heat of summer has abated, but the sea is beautifully warm for swimming. The school holidays are over, so archaeological sites and museums are less crowded. And the seasonal harvest is underway, providing a cornucopia of culinary delights.”

Upcoming cruises and tours include:

Cruising the Coast of Dalmatia: From Split to Dubrovnik
Departing Sept. 14, guests sail the blue waters of Croatia for eight days. Sail the islands aboard a traditional gulet boat while hopping off to explore the palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian at Split, the beautiful town of Dubrovnik, the tiny walled town of Korčula, the slopes of Brač, harbor of Hvar and vineyards of Vis.

Cruising to the Cyclades
Depart on Sept. 15 for the ultimate 15-day Greek island cruise. Sail through the Dodecanese and Cyclades archipelagos on a traditional gulet, while disembarking at ports and villages like Santorini, Kos, Naxos, Delos, Astypalaia, Nisyro and Anafi.

Walking and Cruising the Lycian Shore
Set sail on a traditional gulet for a 15-day cruise of the Lycian Shore. Throughout the trip, hike some of the best sections of the Lycian Way, follow Roman roads and shepherds’ paths to the ruins of Kyaneai, visit Pinara’s royal tombs, explore the port of Patara and the castle of Kale, and more.

A Gastronomic Tour of Sicily
For eight days starting Oct. 5, explore eastern Sicily where local produce is transformed into delicious dishes. Visit herb, olive and dairy farms; a winery with archaeological parks; and walk on Mount Etna for a cultural feast.

Exploring Crete: Archaeology, Nature and Food
Starting Oct. 15, embark on a 14-day journey around Crete. Visit Greece’s largest island making stops at famous Minoan palaces and hidden gems along the coast, mountains, gorges and plains. Enjoy delicious meals at hand-picked restaurants and wine tastings from local vineyards.

The Somerset on Grace Bay Review

If you’re taking a large family getaway or a “friendcation,” regular hotel rooms might not cut it. Even if you book adjoining rooms or a more spacious suite, accommodations most likely still won’t have all of the amenities to make your stay as comfortable as it could be. But if your brood happens to be planning a beach getaway to Turks & Caicos, The Somerset on Grace Bay can provide an inviting oceanside home away from home.

Escape to Tahiti for a Captivating Island-Hopping Cruise

The 118 islands of French Polynesia reveal themselves layer by fascinating layer, with the spirit of mana (vital force) linking them all the way from Tahiti to the remote reaches of the Marquesas. This is part of the world best savored on a journey that dives as deep into culture as natural beauty, both above and below the water’s surface. A cruise makes it easy to cover a lot of ground while unpacking just once (and sneaking in some work done in comfort, too, during at-sea days). And cruising offers particular appeal within this semi-autonomous French territory sprawling across nearly 2 million square miles of ocean and covering five archipelagos.
