As Qatar prepares to re-open its borders, Numbeo’s Crime Index by City 2021 named Doha the second-safest city in the world. The index tracks safety in 431 cities. In 2020, Qatar retained its position as the safest country in the world, and No. 1 in the Numbeo Global Index. This marked the third time Qatar was named the safest destination worldwide in the last five years. All of this reaffirms Qatar’s outstanding level of safety and security, and strengthens Doha’s desirable reputation among business and leisure travelers, offering award-winning hospitality and excellent service.

Qatar prioritizes safety at every visitor touchpoint, from the airline, Qatar Airways, to Hamad International Airport’s cutting-edge security and advanced contactless technology, through to the hotels and tourist attractions following the protocols set out in the Qatar Clean program. The guidelines were created by Qatar National Tourism Council and the Ministry of Public Health, and ensure strict standards for hygiene and cleanliness. Qatar also implemented a track-and-trace mobile phone app for residents and visitors to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
