Anytime is a good time for a girls’ weekend away; however, October is a particularly poignant time for some self care and bonding with your besties in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here we share some resorts and spas across the country using the opportunity to curate special experiences for guests while raising money and awareness for women’s health charities and healthy habits.
The Langham Huntington, Pasadena
The Langham Huntington, Pasadena will be fundraising with its Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with 10 percent of proceeds from treatments at the Chuan Spa and ticket sales supporting City of Hope’s Women’s Cancer programs. The hotel’s Chuan Spa will host three complimentary wellness events in October, with donations to City of Hope suggested. Complimentary self-exam cards, available for women and men, will be available throughout October; guests may also scan a QR code at the spa reception to donate to City of Hope.
The Loma de Vida Spa at La Cantera Resort & Spa
La Cantera Resort & Spa, located just outside of San Antonio in Texas Hill Country, offers a 60-minute, locally crafted Raspberry Rose-infused sugar scrub treatment accompanied with a sparkling Rosé or pink mocktail. Guests can also add on a signature manicure or pedicure and a Knesko Rose Quartz Antioxidant Mask. A portion of sales from every treatment goes to WINGS, the only program of its kind in the country providing health care services to women with breast cancer. Also at the spa, Jamie O’Banion, founder and CEO of BeautyBio, will host a beauty secrets tell-all demonstration event on Oct. 8, with $5 from each admission benefitting WINGS.
The Don CeSar
Also known as the Pink Palace, The Don CeSar will host a Blossoms of Hope flower workshop in partnership with local company The Roaming Petal in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Oct. 21 workshop, open to both guests and locals, aims to raise awareness about breast cancer while fostering creativity and spreading positivity through the art of floral design. A portion of the proceeds will go back to the Moffitt Cancer Center, located in Tampa. It’s the perfect add-on for an October girls’ getaway weekend at the on-site Spa Oceana, offering a Day of Indulgence experience for $465 per person.
The Spa at Naples Grande at the Naples Grande Beach Resort
This hotel spa is offering several pink services during October to raise awareness for the Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Support Organization, including the Tickle Me Pink pedicure, Pink Me Up Activlift facial; Pink Salt Bath Flotation Therapy; NuCalm; and, for local guests, a Fall into Serenity group experience for groups of four to eight people. Guests who wear pink for any service during the month of October will be entered to win a pink Dermaflash facial device.
