Delta Air Lines recently revealed details of its new cabin redesign, set to bring enhanced and upgraded features to the airline’s entire fleet. From fresh seating materials to a renewed color palette to enhanced lighting, the Onboard Experience team is currently working with Delta engineers to make this a reality.

“Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel,” said Mauricio Parise, vice president, customer experience design, Delta Air Lines. “As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations.”

The new cabins will debut on widebody Airbus A350 aircraft in early 2025. Additional aircraft will receive the new cabin design as the airline’s schedule and operation allows over the next few years.

To create these new cabins, the Onboard Experience team spent the last two years canvassing Delta’s fleet, interviewing crew members and customers about their travel journeys, and taking note of all the different aircraft variations. The team then looked at thousands of samples for walls, carpet, seat material, metal trim and even screws to reach the final concept.

“If you were to turn the airplane upside down and shake it, what stays is considered hard product,” said Michael Steinfeld, manager, Onboard Product, Delta Air Lines. “We’re responsible for the look and feel of the entire cabin – everything from seat design to the colors of the wall and carpet.”

Delta One customers will enjoy brand-new soft and breathable fabric seats made of wool and nylon blend, lighter than current seat covers. This material better regulates temperature to help passengers rest and relax, and these new seats also feature a headrest made from comfortable engineered leather.

Enhanced lighting creates a cohesive and calming onboard environment, with mood lighting designed to suit each phase of the flight. The airline also leans into a softer, warmer and more modern color palette with natural materials like wool and accents of Delta’s original heritage colors throughout.

“Delta has taken the time to develop every detail of our new interiors; the team was intentional in creating an experience that mimics our customers’ lifestyles and puts them at ease as soon as they board our aircraft,” said Parise. “We look forward to sharing our hard work with our customers and welcoming them onboard.”
